Christmas 2006

I know you have all been waiting... in fact longing for the update with pictures from the North Carolinian VanDrimmelens. Well, wait no longer... sit back relax... enjoy a few pics and even a video. Does life get any better.

We start our little journey out this year a couple of weeks ago (hey... what can I say... I am still getting caught up on pictures.. but I am getting close! :-) Here are some pics of the kids when they went to see Santa at Southpoint Mall. They always have the best Santa's there!

As you can see... Bekah was a bit reluctant to sit in Santa's lap (probably a good defense mechanisim... you really shouldn't be sitting in strange guy's laps... ). She was, however, a bit more willing to sit with Mrs. Claus!

As we continue on our journey will will go ahead and jump right to Christmas Eve.  You already saw our lovely live nativity.  We went ahead and invited some of our good friends over.  Andy and Rachel Hemmert, Jason and Heather Pollei, and Jason and Susie Earl.  It was a grand old time and really nice to finally have the room to host a party like this!  Yeah for our new house!

Here is a picture of the layout!

After the party everyone was pooped!  (Okay... this was way later after we got everything ready for the kids, just before we hopped in bed... can you see Deb's grin. :-) )

Yeah!  Finally we got to Christmas Day!  Deb and I woke up at 6:00.  I know sick!  We both just layed there for a while.  We knew each other was awake, but still we continued to lay there while the kids slept on.  Finally about 6:30 Joseph got out of bed to go to the bathroom and we invited him into our room.  We then proceeded to make 'a bit' of noise so the girls would wake up and we could go downstairs.  I know we were supposed to be sleeping, but Deb and I were too excited for Christmas too!  :-)   At last the time arrived.  We all headed downstairs for the fun!

Of course everyone was totally excited for Christmas.  The kids were great and didn't even get sick of opening presents half way through like in years past. :-)  I started a great fire and actually burned paper from the presents (of course igniting memories for many past Christmases).  In the end, we were all happy, there was a giant pile of ashes and the kids played and played and played.

We took one more moment to snap this picture of the kids with their cool new hats from Grandma Van and we started cleaning up.

Thanks everyone for your presents and kind thoughts everyone!  The kids (and of course us too) absolutely loved it! Merry Christmas!!
