North Carolina Experience!

Hey Howdy there! I tried for two days to get Debbi to write this week... but none of you said you wanted to hear from her so she decided she didn't have to write. Now you are all stuck hearing from me forever... too bad for you. :-( This week I don't have any cute pictures, just a great experience to share. This past Sunday some neighbors of ours had a get together and invited us. Apparently every year they get together for this little music party thing. To begin with they roast an entire pig... how cool is that?! They had a huge smoker in their backyard. I think next year I am going to go a bit earlier so I can see the pig roasting and cutting up. We got there and most of the food was gone already and the pig all cut up. I have to admit that I went somewhat reluctantly, but boy o' boy was I ever rewarded for going. The food was great and the music... It was AWESOME! The invitation said to bring your instruments, don't eat for 3 days prior and come and enjoy! We were outside on a beautiful autumn evening to begin with and there were people all around playing instruments in different groups. A couple of guys would get together and play acustic guitar. Some others would have a banjo and a violin playing bluegrass. All sorts of little groups would just form, play a while and then disband and create new groups. It was AMAZING to see and on top of that, they were GOOD! Toward the end of the night a bigger group formed and started playing blues. They played a song for 20 minutes and everyone had a chance to solo. They sang too! Harmonica's, Banjos, Steel Guitar's, Guitar's, Basses... it was great! (Can you tell I liked it. :-) ) Too bad we had to get the kids home to bed. I would have loved to stay and enjoy for a couple more hours! Needless to say we will be returning next year! We met some great people too! Man, I love North Carolina in the fall. It is really beautiful outside right now and I think the leaves are going to change soon... oooh, I can hardly wait! I guess that is it for now. Love you all!
