Normal Everyday Lives!

This week has been nice out in North Carolina. Fall is beginning to show up and the weather dropped down a bit. It is a great time to be outside most days and even gets a bit chilly at nights. We decided we would inagurate our fireplace downstairs in the family room so we went and bought a grill for the fire, as well as a cheapo fire screen and made a little fire. Here is a picture of my fun! 2006_09_17_03 I don't know what it is about making fires, but there is something extremely gratifying about making fire in your home. Almost like you are rebelling against years of culture to go back in a time when life was simpler. I so felt like getting out the dutch oven's and making dinner down there... perhaps one day. For now our entire downstairs smells like fire. It is kind of cool now, but I imagine one day we will need to invest in an actual screen so the smell doesn't leak out into the room. :-) Kids are all great here. Kay is really starting to walk now. She definetely wins the award for the earliest walker in our family. She is 10 months now and all over the place. Joseph and Bekah didn't take their first steps till they were about a year old. It probably doesn't matter, but it's cool to see such a little body walking around. Bekah started (or wanted to start... long story) her dance class this week. Here are a couple of cute pictures of her all dressed up. The second is my favorite. She is super excited about dancing... go figure. 2006_09_17_01 2006_09_17_02 Joseph is learning a ton and says something pretty much every day that amazes me. He kept saying that words that started with the same letter "rhymed" this week so we tried to explain to him that they actually "alliterate." Debbi and I were really amazed when he actually got it and started saying works alliterate on Saturday. Is my child gifted? Probably not, but he does pick up on stuff. :-) He asked me to put him in a tree yesterday. I figured I would be a hypocrite if I didn't allow him to climb trees after all those years of torture I put Mom through... so here you go. Joseph in a tree in our front yard about 8 feet off the ground. He was content with that height for now... we'll see how long it lasts. 2006_09_17_05 Oh what the heck... here is one more picture. Joseph really loves his tinker toys and makes all sorts of things. He is really creative and can think all sorts of things up. He made a hand yesterday with bones and everything. It was cool. The picture below is a car. Am I a proud dad? Probably so. Hey... it's what we do. :-) 2006_09_17_04 I guess that is it for now. We love you all!! Have a great week!!
