Now, I'm no expert, but I've had my share of serious cuts and knew that this one was pretty serious. I yelled for Debbi to get out of the shower, and the kids to get ready, we were heading to the hospital. Of course the kids were still in their pajama's and I was walking around in my underwear (yea, I know, too much information), but we managed to switch of Kay with one of us holding her at a time with a towel on her head. We made it to the hospital safely and Debbi took Kay back. About 45 minutes later Kay appeared with a few extra stitches... five to be exact.
Of course by the afternoon she was happy as a clam again and climbing on the chairs again.
A couple of days later she had an appointment at the doctor and the informed us she had a slight ear infection, so she started taking some antibiotics. Last Friday they tried to take the stitches out (much the displeasure of Kay) but only took one out before they realized it needed a couple more days. All this time Kay was mostly happy and just had a nice little band-aid on her head. Here is a cute picture of her drawing with Bekah.
Monday rolled around and she got her stitches all out. Everything seemed to be looking great, but then about Wednesday of this week she started developing a rash. By Saturday we took her into the doctor again because it had pretty much covered her entire body. Apparently Kay is allergic to the antibiotic they gave her. It is some type of penicillin thing, so we think it might be related to Debbi's allergy to penicillin that she discovered in High School. Anyway, they told us to give her Benadryl and it should be cleared up in a couple of days.
I am home with Kay today while Deb, Joseph, and Bekah head off to church, but I think Kay is doing much better. Here is a picture I just took.
As you can see, the scar is healing up nicely. We put vitamin E on it every day along with some purpely clear-drying scar something something so hopefully someday she won't have anything on her at all. You can still tell she is a little rosy in the cheeks and nose, but not too bad.
With all this bad stuff happening I'm starting to think she is my daughter. Oh, I better go, she has gotten herself stuck in the ottoman footstool. I better go and save her from her genes.
